Master of Divinity

Master of Divinity (M.Div.)

Since Rev. Dr. Mackay established the Seminary in 1882, the significant aim of the Seminary has been cultivate students to be outstanding pastors. The Seminary has been fostering numerous pastors for over one hundred years, and shepherding followers in churches in Taiwan and outlying islands, in various cities, countries, mountain areas and beach. The graduates we have cultivated serve in different local churches and organizations overseas. After being approved and registered by the Ministry of Education, the Seminary, with this century-old tradition, continues cultivating talents for Taiwan.

Recently, theological education has been emphasizing the relationship between diversity and unity, integrating the cultivation of spiritual characters and the professional education of pastors. The theological education in MDiv Program has the following four significant aims:

1.Pastor Cultivation

Cultivating pastors has been one of important goals of MDiv Program. In addition to developing the professional knowledge of pastors, the Program also emphasizes 1) the cultivation of Christian spirituality to build students’ belief and characters; 2) the cultivation of ministry ability to enable students to experience the nature of ministry in churches and organizations through internship.

2.Academic Training

On top of the pastor cultivation, the Program pays attention to the academic training in theology. An outstanding pastor should be qualified with the qualities of a scholar/teacher. The study and training provided by MDiv Program aim at building students’ critical academic ability and enhancing professional ministry knowledge. Academics are not only the course materials or report in the classroom but the attitude to life and belief!

3.Mission Orientation

As a fruit generated by the universal missionary movement, the Seminary is mission-oriented. Since great importance has been attached to this mission-oriented quality in recent years, the study and practice of mission at home and abroad are consequently opened up actively.

4.International Vision

To respond to the tendency of globalization and internalization, the Seminary gradually promotes the plan of the internationalization of theological education, anticipating some theological courses would be lectured in English in the near future.
