三個孩子伸出探向濃蔭處的竹竿，展現童年的無限歡樂，傳達大自然和童年之間的親密關係。孩子們腳下所踏之地是台灣島的形狀，這也象徵著孩子的笑顏在這塊土地上的純真且自由。此藝術作品安置在男寮前的廣場。此作品曾榮獲1993年第一屆台中市露天雕塑大展金牌。

The author uses three children reaching out to a bamboo pole in the shade to show the immense joy of childhood and to convey the intimate relationship between nature and childhood. The ground beneath the children's feet is in the shape of the island of Taiwan, symbolising the innocence and freedom of the children's smiling faces on the land. This work of art is placed in the square in front of the men's dormitory. It was awarded a gold medal in the first Taichung Open Air Sculpture Exhibition.
